Manila is the nation’s capital and Quezon City is the largest city. Both are in Metro Manila region.

Ecotourism is a kind of tourism that centers awareness of the environment and local community.
It is intended to offer tourists their perception on the impact of the human beings in the environment and to promote a greater appreciation to our natural habitats.
The integral part of ecotourism is the promotion of energy efficiency, recycling, water conservation, and to generate economic opportunities for local communities.

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
Location: Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines
Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located in the western coast of Palawan in the Philippines.
One of the protected areas in the country, this wonderful national park is being managed by the Puerto Princesa government since 1992.
The park has small waterfalls inside the cave, underground river, rock formations, limestone karst mountain landscape, and marine creatures.
Considered to have the largest cave in the world, it has major formations of stalactites and stalagmites.
In 1999, the Puerto Princesa Underground River was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in 2012 it was voted as part of the New7Wonders of Nature.

Mount Apo (Apo Sandawa)
Location: Davao Region, Philippines
Mount Apo or famously known as Apo Sandawa is a natural park and protected area in the islands of Mindanao in the Philippines.
It has an area of 199,819 acres or 80,864 hectares.
At 2,954 meters (9,692 ft) Mount Apo is the highest peak mountain and volcano in the Philippine archipelago and the 24th highest peak island on Earth.
Mount Apo is the country’s popular destination for climbing and hiking, it is also a home for more than 600 wildlife including the Philippine eagle, Philippine brown deer and Mindoro scops owl.
This natural park also features peaks, valleys, falls, lakes, and hot springs.
Biri Larosa Protected Landscape and Seascape
Location: Northern Samar, Philippines
The island of Biri is located in the northernmost part of the province of Northern Samar.
It is a protected area facing the Pacific Ocean and spanning 88,760 acres (33,492 hectares) of land.
The Biri Island is famous for its seven gigantic limestone rock formations.
According to the UP Diliman National Institute of Geological Sciences Research, the rock formations was formed by the underwater tectonic plates movement generated by earthquakes about million years ago.
Batanes
Location: Province of Batanes, Philippines
The Batanes group of islands is located in the northernmost tip of the Philippines.
Compromising of ten islands, it is the smallest in both population and land area in the country.
Batanes is 101 miles north of Luzon, and 120 miles south of Taiwan.
The island is known for its scenic beauty and the wonders of nature, amazing lighthouses, and clean environment.
They are recognized as the most peaceful province in the Philippines.
The entire Batanes island is declared by law as protected area and covered by Indigenous People’s Rights Act, which means only the locals or Ivatans are the ones entitled to own a property in the entire Batanes province.
As of today, the whole province is undergoing a process to be included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
Apo Island
Location: Negros Oriental, Philippines
Apo Island is located in the southeastern part of Negros Island province in the Philippines.
With over 74 hectares land area, the island can be reached by motorized boat from Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.
It is also known as one of the best diving sites in the world.
Apo Island is a home to marine life with over 650 species of fish and over 400 species of corals.
The island has two major resort with both having a dive center, Apo Island Beach Resort and Liberty’s Lodge.
